Our Mission Statement:
To intentionally foster a welcoming atmosphere to all members and visitors who attend the United Methodist Church of Mt. Kisco. As an affirming church, our committee members in attitude and spirit will represent Christ and our church by serving the congregation with a loving and positive manner in an environment that is both safe and comfortable.
We had our first meeting on January 31st. There was a lot of enthusiasm from the group and many wonderful ideas were discussed.
These are some of the initial projects we are working:
Forming teams of Greeters to welcome the congregation as they arrive on Sunday mornings.
- Updating address/ phone/ email information and making an Interim Directory
- Creating a Phone Chain for members without email
- Making informational bulletin boards to be displayed in Halstead Hall.
A Community Board that describes the many groups that share our building and a Church Board that shares what we are doing as a church.
Forming a Caregiving Team that will stay in touch with members of the congregation by writing cards, making visits and phone calls.
- Designing Church Business Cards which can be distributed to the congregation to use when someone asks for information about our church
- Placing a Prayer Box in Halstead Hall for all who enter in the need of prayer.
If you were unable to attend our first meeting or if you have any additional ideas or comments please contact one of the Co-Chairs of the Hospitality Committee, Dave Visaggio or Bobbie McCann.
A Note from Kooki Laux
In an effort to be a church that is more prayer based, a new, small group called the Prayer Partners has been formed. Our bishop, Jane Middleton, and our pastor, Parker Prout, have encouraged us to begin/continue a daily dialogue with our Lord. Bobbie McCann has beautifully and lovingly set up a prayer box in Halstead Hall. Next to the box prayer request slips are available in both English and Spanish. All one has to do is write his/her intercession on the slip, place the request in the box, and the Prayer Partners will take it from there. To date, many have made prayer requests. Please let us know what your needs are and we will lift them up to God.
