We are committed to creative worship that combines a relevant message of hope and encouragement for today with music that spans many styles and ages—from favorite old hymns to choruses from around the world; from classical composers on organ to gospel anthems on jazz piano. We are eclectic, open and embracing—so please come and share your love of music with us.

THE CHANCEL CHOIR

The Chancel Choir sings every Sunday morning during the 10:15 a.m. service. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday nights from 7:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We also have a brush-up rehearsal on Sunday mornings from 9:20 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. There is no requirement to know how to read music or have any previous experience as a singer in order to join the choir. The rehearsal process is designed so that even those who have little or no experience singing may have an opportunity to develop their musical skills and vocal technique, while participating in making beautiful and uplifting music for worship. Many of our choir members are skilled musicians and singers already, and our music director is a highly qualified voice teacher and musician. We ask that those who are interested in joining the choir be available for Wednesday night rehearsals. We spend up to five or six weeks in advance working on some of our pieces for Sunday services, and our valuable rehearsal time allows us to prepare our music and to grow as a musical ensemble, as well as enjoy good company.

Choir Rehearsal

Choir Rehearsal

CHILDREN’S CHOIR

Our Children’s Choir meets to rehearse each Sunday after the 10:15 a.m. service for about twenty minutes (starting at about 11:30, depending on when the service ends, and ending before noon). Our Children’s Choir is a new development at our church, and one that we would like to see grow and continue to be a part of our music ministry. Our Music Director, Nick Nicassio, has an extensive background working with children in musical and theatrical programs, and he has been working to encourage the younger members of our congregation to share their talents and raise their voices. We welcome any children that would like to join the Children’s Choir to stay after the service and join the rehearsals. The Children’s Choir sings on selected Sundays throughout the year. As the program develops there will be more opportunities for them to sing.

CHAMBER ENSEMBLE

Instrumentalists are invited to play chamber music during our services and on special occasions. Instrumentalists are asked to attend at least one rehearsal before the day of performance. Instruments should be tuned and prepared before rehearsal begins.

SOLOISTS

If you have a special solo that you would like to share with the congregation, please meet with Music Director, Nick Nicassio, to discuss a suitable date and any accompaniment or rehearsal needs you may have. We are always eager to enjoy the talents of our members!

HYMN SING

On the last Sunday of the month, we have an open hymn-sing before our Sunday morning service.  Members of the congregation may select from our two hymnals. Come prepared with your old favorites!

LESSONS

Music Director, Nick Nicassio offers voice lessons and piano lessons for adults and children, which are held at the church, and he gives a percentage of the fee to the church. If you or your child are interested in starting lessons with Nick, please contact us, or see Nick in person for more information and to set up a time.

Please feel free to contact our office at any time with your questions, suggestions or comments. We welcome your participation!

I am a retired 68 yr old who is interested in private piano lessons. Either 45 or 60 minutes every other week. I would prefer evenings or afternoons. I have tried this three times in the past but always work got in the way. I read a bit, know my left hand from my right and have an old upright and a lot of material at home. I live in
Chappaqua so the church is close. Please tell me what this would cost and what your schedule is like. Thank you.

Good Morning Billy, I am sorry that I overlooked your question from November, we have not been very good at updating our website recently and I found your comment.

If you are still interested, please let me contact Nick Nicassio for you and ask him to email you directly. Please email me on office@mountkiscochurch.org or call me on 914-66-5014.

      Kindest regards

      Jude
