Blessing of the Animals:
a worship service for the whole family
Sunday, October 16th at 10:15am
United Methodist Church of Mount Kisco

Mount Kisco—“Lions and Tigers and PRAYERS…” is what they are saying around Mt. Kisco as the United Methodist Church prepares for its annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday morning at 10:15am on October 16th, 2011. In what promises to be an inspirational worship service for every member of the family, humans and their pets will gather in the Pumpkin Patch on the church’s front lawn at 300 Main Street.

Featuring music by Dr. Joan Forsyth and the youth of the church, as well as words by the Rev. Matthew Curry and prayers by Saint Francis, the highlight of the service will be a blessing for each animal. A special addition this year is the invitation to children to bring their favorite stuffed animals to be blessed. The service will take place indoors in the case of inclement weather.

“This is a congregation that seeks to serve the community in a relevant way. We have many great events for people of all ages throughout the year, and this great event includes our beloved pets. I have heard a great deal of enthusiasm for this service with rumors of ferrets and chickens, as well as dogs and cats planning to attend,” states Pastor Matt Curry, “We have been putting out the word that, ‘Everyone is welcome, especially well-behaved pets.’”
